Howdy, I've got a 94AE carbine in .44mag with a Leupold VariX2 1-4x20 mounted in Leupold 2pc bases and low rings. As you may guess, the spent casings hit the scope and fall back into the open action. I really like this scope on this gun. Is there any way I can make it work perhaps with higher rings? Will Mediums do it, or do I need Highs? I'm hoping somebody out there might have this same combo, been down this road before, and found the right combo. Thanks.

I remember having to spin a scope 90 degrees on a 94 because the case was hitting the windage turret.

Turn the scope 1/4 turn counter-clockwise.

Turn it to the left.
Elevation is now windage, windage is now elevation. Up is now left, right is now up.
I would try higher mounts to avoid confusion.

Well after experimenting, I found the solution without having to twist the scope (which was never an acceptable solution to me). Medium rings were not high enough, I tried. High rings with the scope centered so the turret assembly is just front of center of the ejection port did the trick. Fortunately the scope still allows plenty of eye relief. Hopefully this will help someone else who tries to scope a M94ae.
