Me and my buddy from New Yawk both wore them last year and never got a tick....so they work on Southern and Yankee ticks We did treat our shirts with Repel Permethrin Clothing and Gear.

Or buy some permethrin spray and treat your clothes. Works real well.

Or buy some permethrin spray and treat your clothes. Works real well. I use Sawyers brand Permethrin. And with spray I can wear any clothes I choose for any particular day/weather. Plus I can spray my boots and turkey vest. Sawyers is good for about two weeks so one treatment goes a long way. Ticks are serious business, they can really mess you up if you get a bad one.

I've tested positive for Lyme Disease multiple times. In fact, I just automatically get tested after every spring turkey season now. As treatment, I've had both shots and pills and only once did I display the red "bullseye" mark. Ticks are part of hunting, educate yourself the best you can about them and take the required precautions. As mentioned, they're nothing to mess around with. But that being said, I don't let them stop me either. It still creeps me out when you're done for the day, you've gotten yourself all cleaned up and you're relaxing in a chair or on a couch and you feel something crawling across your neck! Lol! One rule in turkey camp, no outside camo inside. Leave it out and don't bring ticks in with you if at all possible. One thing that I've found that works really good is going over myself with the sticky lint rollers, picks ticks right up!

I've been using it since it first came on the market back when it wasn't legal to sell in a lot of states. I believe the first can I saw was by Coulstons in a yellow camo looking can with a green top...on the back of the can was a list of states where it was illegal to sell it.
I like the Repel brand better...guy at Bass pro talked me into buying the big jug of Sawyers brand with the pump spay head. I treated my clothes with it and I smelled like I had been sprayed by a Pest Control company and still got ticks on me.
I can lay on the ground and sleep with Repel treated clothes and never get a tick on me.
You guys that think Sawyers brand is better than Repel....keep thinking it and I'll keep using Repel and hunt tick free.

That is what I used to use, when you could not get it anymore, I went to Sawyers. As said before, one treatment last 2 weeks. I usually treat 4 to 5 times a season just to be safe
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

I usually treat 4 to 5 times a season just to be safe Sawyers lasts a lot longer than 2 weeks. It lasts up to six weeks easily, if you don’t wash your clothes too much. If you’re reapplying it every two weeks, you’re WAY over applying it. Unless you wash your clothes every other day.
Oh, and believe it or not, deer bite. Fairly hard.

One of the farms I hunt is tick central. I was there one day, stepped out of the truck to talk to the owner for less than a minute and had 3 ticks on my pants. Tick spray is cheap compared to what they can do to you. Dang things will fall out of trees on you like crazy on that farm. Never seen them as thick anywhere else.

I like Repel too. It is just harder to get locally.

I buy the permethrin you mix at Tractor Supply and keep a spray bottle mixed in truck and in fridge in garage. Cheaper and can mix up a bottle of spray in seconds.

I've heard of people mixing their own I've even heard of guys putting it on themselves....Not eYe.
I personally think it works better when applied by aerosol spray.
When I treat my clothes I take them outdoors and hang them over a fence or bench and give them a nice fast even coat and let them dry over night before I wear them.

The old wives tale was to eat lots of garlic and you wouldn't get ticks/chiggers. I'll continue to rely on Permethrin.

I mix my own tick spray which is equivalent to Sawyers. I mix 1 oz of Happy Jack kennel Dip ii / 1 qt. water. Works great and a lot cheaper.
