Got this one going, family rifle that I wanted to pull out of the safe and start using. 18" in .308. #500 Timney, opened up the barrel channel, bottom metal from Heritage, EGW rail, Leupold VX3HD 4.5-14. Shoots better than it ever did in the past with this little bit of work. Super handy.

I like the slick-barreled ones better, but I’d shoot that! Looks right.

Good looking rig. I went snooping for another in 243... and basically learned that I got the 308 for a song/dance that likely won't happen again.

I think that stock was a stock replacement from Bishop for these rifles. They came about 90% and needed finish inletting, fine sanding, and finishing as you wanted it. Nothing fancy but my brother did a nice job and killed 5-6 Whitetails with Sierra 165 grain round nose hand loaded. It's a family keepsake now.

Resurrecting an older thread, I know.

Giving some consideration to reboring a 660, 243 Win (not the original 20" bbl) to 338 Federal. Been talking to Mark Brown, at Brown Precision and he still inlets for the 600/660. Thought about 358 Win, but I already have on in a Ruger 77 tang safety.

Just me, but I’d do that all day long. While maybe not the more perfect set up, it could be very damned good. With a Brown on it, it might be a complete bush hunters dream.
