I fell to the bad influence of folks here, sprung for a McSwirly which I finally received 9/27 and here it is, complete and ready to shoot.

I got the action in March from one of our posters, the Pac-Nor #3 contour took eons to get here, which gave me enough time to work over the action and jewel the bolt, and my rifle builder set it up in one day, (for reasons of ATF problems!) and I found the other pieces in my shop to get it together. It took the week-end to pillar bed. The mix on the stock was 50% Dk gray, 30% Black and 20% White. You'll have to ask Rick about configuration, I just let him order what he thought I wanted. I believe it's a Winchester Compact. Barrel is cut to 23", scope is a Leupold 2.5 X 8 VariX 3 in Millet rings. It's set up for pressure testing with a Pressure Trace and ready to shoot Friday.

Thanks Rick and Terah, it worked out well!!

Nice rifle! I've a very similar Swirly on a Win 70 SS. After seeing what a 300Winny will do over the chrono (less than 50fps difference between 23" and 26") with a 23" pipe, I think that length is nearly perfect. I would have to chit-can those rings though, I've just broken off too many of the "feet" to feel comfortable using them on anything anymore.

Very nice!

Here's it's twin! Exact same color combo and compact pattern on an MRC 1999 action that I ordered from Rick a couple of years ago in a .350 Rem. Mag.

Looks sharp. Doesn't look like there is much room to manuever that scope around, though.

Beautiful rifle!

The Dk Gray/blk/White is a winner for sure.

I broke a couple too, until I realized those "feet" don't have to be anything but just snug, less than 8 in/lbs is enough. They break from too much muscle. There's no strain on them and all the force in shooting goes to the slot in the bases. The Weaver Grand Slams are a bit better in that respect but weigh a bit more.

By reversing the bases you have 1", that much to move forward or back which is enough and better than some others. I had experience on scope location on another MRC and some SA M70's so I knew exactly where to go.

Love those "twins" guys, I wish I had seen them before and I wouldn't have been as insecure as I was in the ordering. I never could find a picture of that color combination before and just extrapolated what I saw of the Coyote pattern and hoped. I couldn't have been more pleased with anything else.
