Local guy has a NIB 39A mountie for sale with the box and I am having a hard time deciding if I should buy it or not. Based on what I am seeing on gunbroker the price is a the high end of what they are selling for. The problem is I have yet to find one that is NIB.
Any input would be welcomed.
Asking price $1,800.

If God can get by on 10%, why does the government need 90%
If you want this for collection purposes then you pay the price. I personally buy them to shoot not to look at. Buy two nice ones for that price and enjoy them in the field.
39A is my favorite 22 and are great to shoot , but i don`t think a Marlin 39A is that collectable and that is way to much , buy a shooter 39A and have fun with the rifle.

I feel sort of the same way…….. but IF you want anew in the box, and there’s only a handful out there much less available for sale, then it’s a sellers market.
How many other unfired Model 39 Mounties have you come across?
In the future how many unfired Model 39 Mounties do you think you are going to come across?
Not Ruger, but original Marlin Mounties?
I think that price is high, but it is not likely that you are going to find another any time soon, and when you do the price is likely to be fairly steep as well.
THE CHAIR IS AGAINST THE WALL.
The Tikka T3 in .308 Winchester is the Glock 19 of the rifle world.
Seems high even being NIB. I recently purchased a 39M Octagon in mint condition, off Gunbroker, for $5 less, and that is a far rarer gun than a standard 39M, NIB or not.
As others have said, NIB is just not common. You say you are looking for hard assets to exchange, then it might be a good idea to have a nice quantity of ammo to exchange with that rifle.
Seems like the price is high but I shoot my 39A's...
High priced, yes. But if you want it and have the money then grab it. You won’t find another on anytime soon I bet. But if you looking for a nice one to shoot, then don’t spend that money on it, buy a nice used one for less that $1200
