Any recommendations on hotels in Cape Town? I plan to be there for 4 or 5 days of sightseeing. Would also appreciate restaurant and things to do recommendations. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think I stayed at a place called the Floreal house In 2008. It was a pretty nice bed and breakfast. It seemed like an OK part of town but the people running the place would not let me go across the street for a sandwich after dark. I did the little red bus tour and went on the shark cage dive at gaans Bay with a group called white shark adventures. They picked me up at the bed and breakfast and drove me all the way to the bay.

Cape Town can be a bit dicey crime wise so watch your spidey senses but most south africans are very nice. Take the the cable car up table mountain for a great view.

Hire a guide and visit Cape Point and Cape Good Hope. See the Jackass penguin colony and go on a wine tasting tour. Spend an afternoon on the boardwalk and the aquarium is worth a visit. Think the last time we stayed at a Radison Red on the boardwalk. Look on TripAdvisor for the best seafood and steakhouses in the area, ya won’t be disappointed.

Second the cable car ride to the top of table mountain.

Budget dependant I’d suggest a hotel situated in the Waterfront - there are many options to choose from but one of my favourites is The Foundry.
There list of sightseeing options is almost unlimited - just ask the hotel to arrange a guide - trip to Cape Point, The Constantia wine estates (or the Stellenbosch & Paarl wine routes slightly further afield), the Atalanta seaboard beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, the Table Mountain cable car etc. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful trip!

I have stayed at TheTable Bay, very nice hotel connected to the mall. If the weather is bad you don't have to get wet to eat. I also looked at the Victoria & Alfred, but the room would not work for three people. Camps Bay would be nice in their summer. Easy to get around using Uber.

Codfather was great when I was there. We stayed at the 12 Apostles and loved it. The grotto in the spa was fantastic.

My Cape Town friends walk with their thumb on the pepper spray trigger after dark
It’s a great town otherwise
