I've got a little work to do on it. 45-70 #5 near as I can determine..... Was thinking of calling it 'Thumper' but DD already has a thumper, and that wouldn't do if they were ever out together, so need another name..

THAT was in a flea market? WOW!
Congrats on a nice find. What brand are the sights? Hope it is a good shooter. Might wanna consider "Thunder" for a name.

I think the sights are Lyman, seems, like a nicely built gun.
Full length 1" Bbl., 22" twist, fore end attached with lugs and wedges....
Stock pretty nicely done, Bbl lugs and wedges a nice touch, could have done without the recoil pad, but it's there ..........................
Doesn't appear to have been shot much if at all.....
Central Florida is a curious place, some of the most expensive guns I've bought and sold have been at 'Flea markets'......... ?????

A lot of the older people on the east coast spend the winter in Florida and Im sure they decide to get rid of lots of stuff such as guns when they decide not to hunt anymore

Congrats on a nice find. What brand are the sights? Hope it is a good shooter. Might wanna consider "Thunder" for a name. Back in the 80s I had two favorite hunting rifles, a Marlin 1895 and a full stocked Mauser 7X57. I referred to them as Thunder and Lightning. The 1895 was Thunder because...well, for obvious reasons, and the Mauser was Lightning because every deer I shot with it for a looong time dropped at the shot.

I called my Ruger #3 .45-70 "Ouch," then "Flinch," then "my 250-3000 Recoiless Rifle"!

I love that period correct PG stock--somebody knew that he was doing when that roller was assembled.

What markets over that way let you sell guns? I have found some deals at the Webster west side flea market and also at the small market in Bevells Corner.
It might be lonely at the top, but it's a bitch at the bottom.

Recoil pad looked like it had been fitted, pared down with a sharp knife, did a little better job of 'blending' it in. Front sight, spirit level missing and windage knob froze up, so replaced it. DONE
