My 260 proved to be fussy about seating depth with this bullet. Found the magic setup at the range yesterday . My question is, will that same depth hold true with a different powder or load? I'm tempted to try to get some more speed. The limited number of these bullets I have on hand makes me hesitate about starting from scratch (and wasting precious components).

Maybe…………..maybe not 😊 With my 6.5 Creed, when sighted 2” high at 100 with the 140 A/bond, with the same charge, primer, etc, it puts the 140 Berger VLD 1” low and 2” left of the aim point.

I'm wondering about using this same bullet with more powder or different powder.

I would have confidence in that seating depth for further testing with different powders. One thing that really helped me home in on a load is to take enough of the good load to use as a control the next time you go to the range. If your known load goes from 1/2" to 3/4", and your experimental load shoots 1/2', or a 3/4" group at 100fps faster, or slower, it will answer a lot of questions for you.

What velocity are you getting with the E-Tip?

I don't know, don't have a chronograph. 44 grains of Hunter is the powder load.
The impact was about 1.5" lower @100 yds than my other load with target bullets and H4350. I'm guessing it is slower but just a guess.

Point of impact can vary in any direction with different velocities, including sideways. Slower MVs can even hit higher.
Am guessing you're getting around 2800 fps with that load, depending on barrel length, which is enough kill just about anything in Colorado with that bullet. But if you're going to continue handloading, a chronograph will help explain lots of things, and you can get a decent one for around $100--which compared to bullets these days is a bargain.

Thanks John, I'm sure that's the rational thing to do. Accuracy will help my confidence more than a bit of speed anyway.
I'll work on getting a chronograph too.

https://competitionelectronics.com/products/prochrono-ltdLook around their site. They offer this chron w/bluetooth that will display data on your phone. You might find a better price than ordering from the manufacturer in the link. I've used a simple Pro Chrono for 20+ years.
