Picked up in a trade trying to figure out what it is realistically worth. Not sure if I want to keep it or move it. I looked on gunbroker but right now there’s a bunch of stuff that has high reserves, but with no bids. The few there that are getting bids are still really low and a several days out.
Any wheel gun guys have an idea of realistic expectations?
In that condition in today’s crazy market, I’d say around $600.
4 or 5 years ago you could pick up a good clean Model 67 for around $400 bucks.
Unfortunately, those days are GONE.

I picked up a 98% no-dash 67 back about 2016 for $350.00. It had the correct magna stocks numbered to the frame (they are in the safe). Great revolver.
I saw an early one with the stainless sight at a gun show last year. I really wanted it, but I wasn't going to pay $1100 for it. $900 was the opening threshhold for ANY old S&W... so I left empty handed. I haven't been able to get to a gun show any time since, but I really don't expect prices to have fallen.

Prices are in flux right now. Two factors involved. Firstly, S&W revolvers aren't made the way they used to be, and people are increasingly becoming aware of this and opting for the older manufacturing methods vs the new. Secondly, there's price inflation from massive money "printing" by our national government. Prices on everything are going up, and the rate of increase is only accelerating.
As much as it pains me to say so, Travis is right. A quality revolver like that is incredibly useful, and more than one “expert” has written that a 4” .38 is the perfect bedside companion.

Nothing is made the way it “used to be”. Lol. A lot of ‘vintage’ S&W’s from the Bangor-Punta era were fugging JUNK. But, you could find nice ones from Monday and Tuesday productions. You guys kill me. Sweet spot in the late eighties I’ll acknowledge, now, know how to inspect a new revolver and it might be the worst or BEST you’ve seen. Kinda unfortunate the final QC is on the customer. But, saying they don’t make a fine and tight revolver today is pure stupidity.
I have three sons that are firearms enthusiasts. When I find a Smith or even a proper Ruger fairly priced I buy it. I believe leaving them fine firearms is better than the cash they will receive 20+ years (hopefully) from when I drop dead. They agree.
