What are the options these days for a nice gloss scope with one inch main tube? Looking to put something classy on my pre 64 Model 70 Alaskan. Have high gloss rings already and would really like to match with a modern high quality but gloss black scope. Looking to spend between 500 and 1k. Zoom either 3-9 or 2.5-8.
Thanks!

If I had the same goal as you I would keep an eye open in the fire classified. With all the caveats that go with buying used on the classified. You might even try a want to buy post in there. Someone might have one on the shelf they would let go. I don't know off hand what mfrs are still producing gloss but my feeling is your looking at very limited choices. I have had good luck buying used or NIB scopes from the fire classifieds. I have bought 5 VX3 scopes there over the years.
Life can be rough on us dreamers.

Leupold custom shop is your only option now to my knowledge.

My older brother is in the same boat He just bought a new model 70 Super Grade and told me that Grice gun shop has Leupolds with gloss Cerakote on them. They might be worth a look.

US Cerakote will make any scope gloss for $100 + $15 return shipping. And it does not void Leupold's warranty. Phone number is (814)834-3703

If it looks good, you'll see it If it sounds good, you'll hear it If it's marketed right, you'll buy it But...If it's real, you'll feel it Kid Rock

For a pre '64, I'd likely look for a Zeiss Davari or a Leupold M8.

Thanks guys, snagged a gloss Leupold Vari-x III with adjustable AO of the marketplace here. Should go great with the old Redfield high gloss rings.

Anyone ever tried to DIY there own gloss finish? I’m thinking about trying out a high gloss clear coat over a matte Bushnell Elite.
If it doesn’t work out I will go the US Cerakote route.

I’ve personally handled these cerakote scopes. While they are gloss, they’re just not the same as an actual gloss finish. Compared to a high gloss rifle barrel/action, or rings, it’s noticeable. It’s hard to describe unless you see it in person but it just looks “off”.
Oh, and believe it or not, deer bite. Fairly hard.
