I used to have data on this but cant find it.
What % (or number, out of total) of murders are committed with AR style guns?
While we are at it, in what % are Suppressors utilized?
TIA

TIA I don't hink there is any data on ARs specifically as the FBI groups all rifles in one category.

Dude carried an arsenal into the hotel and never was on camera? That whole thing was swept under the rug. Didn't make a lick of sense, and was forgotten quickly. I'm not a conspiracy nut, but the dude they pinned it on probably didn't have a thing to do with it

I have seen some statistical breakdowns specifically for 'mass shootings', but those are encompassed in the rifle statistic overall. Meaning........it's a tiny percentage when looked at in totality.

The FBI Crime Statistics list how many people were killed with "rifles" in a given year. They do not break that down into rifle types. However, the total number killed with rifles of all types is quite small, around 300 as I recall from a couple of years ago. This is a smaller number than those killed with hands and feet for example. The overwhelming majority of homicides with a firearm involve handguns, certainly more than 90%.

I'm not sure what statistic you're after, but statistics can be mined all sorts of different ways depending on the outcome you want. Rifles in general are used in a small percentage of all shootings, with handguns making up the largest by far.
But I would be willing to bet if you set the criteria as what type of gun was used in shootings that involved 6 or say 10+ casualties, then the data might show a different trend. Even though those incidents in which there are 6- 10+ casualties are rare by themselves.

96% of all statistics are pulled out of someone's ass.

According to 2019 FBI stats, there were 364 murders committed with ALL rifles. That's less than 3% of all homicides. AR15s probably account for half of that.

By what mechanism do you arrive at that conclusion? The stats are not broken down that far. I could just as easily say that AR's only account for probably 5 of that 364.

How could you trust anything coming from the fbi ? The justice dept. has covered up a lot of dem crimes and continue to do so as he the fbiI don’t believe anything they make claims about. In reality, I, would venture to say that less than one percent of crimes have involved AR style rifles. It’s probably close to 96% or more of any firearms used in crimes were obtained illegally.

The "probably" was intended to to convey that it was a guess. I expect that 50% (182) is a closer guess than five, but we're both guessing. The point is that whatever the exact number it's a small percentage of the total, certainly not enough to justify the obsession against AR15 type rifles.
