When the world divest itself of the USD, trillions will come flooding home and cause hyperinflation. This move by Russia has been planned for years, they believe now is the time. We are most vulnerable with our lack of manufacturing, debt, environmental laws limiting extraction of our natural resources. Oh and President Brandon was the final factor. The whole world won't divest itself of Dollars. The big hit on the Dollar will occur when the Middle East oil producing countries start accepting other currencies besides the American Dollar as payment for their oil,...and it's going happen soon. https://www.yahoo.com/video/saudi-arabia-considers-ditching-dollar-170000924.htmlThat request wasn't by the Saudis but China. China wants to ensure it can get oil should someone put sanctions upon it for invading Taiwan. They're lining up contingencies after an invasion to get oil by paying via yuan.

It amazes me at the number of people who buy in to all of the "conspiracy/backroom deals/somebody's making money/great reset" theories instead of believing that Putin just wants his former land (Ukraine) back - simply to obtain it's resources and expand his "power". Why is that concept so difficult to grasp? I'll tell you why - it's to simple, that's why. It's more than that. The "believers" are invested in the narrative. To admit they were/are wrong would be an existential identity crisis, so they choose mental gymnastics instead..... Soooo....not so different than the unbelievers then?

Putin’s approval rating according to Russian polls is now up to 83% from 75% pre invasion of the Ukraine.
WSJ
Fake news, Putinistas? There are literally hundreds of articles about what is happening to those Russians who are protesting the Ukrainian invasion by Russia. If there is a rise in the approval rating it has to do with the fact that anyone who says otherwise finds themselves in a Russian Gulag. Those Russian polls are as phony as the democRAT polls. The bottom line is this war could of been prevented if Donald Trump were still in office and the coup had not occured. Now that it has there is nothing that Biden and the democRATs can do to prevent the loss of confidence the world has in the American dollar. Stolen elections have consequences and one of them is the falling dollar and soon to be near worthless dollar. If I were Vlad Putin I would be demanding payment in Rubles as well. It's his war and he gets to play it his way. The dollar get's to suck the hind tit. kwg

The USA and G7 Nations have widened and increased further sanctions against Russia and have targeted his close family members knowing that’s where much of his wealth has been hidden.
Russia is soon to be totally ostracized from global financial avenues and outlets. Total sanctions have not yet been invoked on oil and gas sales at this point in time.

Go, Putin. Atta Boy. Perplexing, no? Not really, Raeford. The crazy bastard has nukes and removing one leg of his 3 legged stool could easily provoke that. I don’t believe there’s a comprehensive way to enforce a sanction on Russia’s oil and gas. Putin is having to discount his oil by 35$/bbl less than the Brent benchmark already.

Seems that there's lots of crazy bastids out there with nukes anymore[ a demented one or two as well]. Even at a $35bl discount he's well ahead of 1-1.5 year back price and still making bank on it as we all know those Russian oilworkers aren't making what our guys do.

I would speculate that discount is a temporary situation.... until they break the back of the petro dollar

Truth but 35$/bbl discount from Brent is a heavy whack and the newly imposed sanctions haven’t hit home yet. We’ll know a lot more next week at this time and will especially so at the end of this month’s billing cycle for the natural gas flowing to Western Europe. Putin blinked at the March billing cycle.

You mean like the pro Uke crowd who equates anything less than their position as anti Democratic hatred of Uncle Sam, apple pie, baseball, and all that is truly American? Sheesh. Pot meet kettle; you have no room to lament. You were right on with COVID now we’re here. They really are just two sides of the same coin.

China doesn't want to lose it's ability to buy oil from Saudi Arabia,...Saudi Arabia doesn't want to lose its ability to sell oil to China. It's just another example of the world losing faith in the U.S. Dollar. In this case, it's countries who no longer trust the people who control the U.S. Dollar. But the end result is the same. Less demand for American Dollars,...less value for the American Dollar.

I get it - I just don't think its as much less faith in the dollar (I mean faith) but more about China planning on some moves and needing contingency. If they weren't looking at Taiwan soon - this wouldn't be as forefront.

Tried, except... Hmmm… can't reach this page It looks like the webpage at https://www.unz.com/aanglin/i-am-a-russian-cheerleader/ might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

If everyone would just read and understand the article Bristoe linked, things would become much clearer...... Ukraine is a sideshow But that article is very different than the OPs article. Which one are we to believe?
