That’s a neat shotgun and rare to boot. I bet it kicks like a mule! I had an old Harrington & Richardson single-barrel shotgun that was a factory slug gun. It was called a Model 162 “Buck” and when you touched that thing off you knew it. Lord, did it kick. I finally traded it off.
My brother bought one of the first ones, no checkering or pad. Without a pad, it was a real eye-opener. Great shooter though. He broke the firing pin with excessive dry-firing, then made a new one from a small bolt grinding it freehand on, wait for it…
I have that same gun but in a 20g. Got it new when I was 13,I"m 64 now. Still have the original hang tag.It sold for $42.00 new.
I’m 65 and a .20 gauge of that same gun was my Christmas gift when I’m guessing I was about 14, so maybe the same year you got yours. Unfortunately mine was destroyed in a house fire years later. Never seen one since.
