I hear them really big ones are called carbuncles.

Mostly hear the old folks mentioning their boils though.

Hardly ever hear a good carbuncle story.

Slum, will have a carbuncle picture up shortly for reminiscing purposes.

Prolly has stories of having to put up the jarred beans in Nana's pantry 'cause her carbuncles were botherin' her somethin' fierce the day he brought them by.

I had one in my nose when I was maybe 12. A man down the road was the local expert. He would check it every day until it would come to a head. Then he would pop it. Hurt like like hell but saved a trip to the doctor witch we couldn't afford We always wondered ii somethng was in the water because all the kids in our little rural town suffered with them at one time or another. The rich girls went nuts and didn't go to school for a week .One ended up with a tiny scar on her lip and said it was caused by birth control pills. it was a big joke because nobody wanted to be with her any ways' She ended up in Omaha Nebraska stripping at a less than top club.

Correct.

I had one that was staph related. Got plowed down to the ground working cattle one day, and one stepped on the back of my hand cutting it up pretty badly. All the manure in the pens, despite cleaning the wounds well developed staph.

Had a boil come up from that staph infection that was damn painful. Had to drain it many times before it healed. Nuclear antibiotics. Doc told me he can knock the staph down, but once it's in your system, it can return.

Icthamol ointment or some such. It will suck out embedded cactus, locust and mesquite thorns and brown recluse venom.

Probably suck out stingray barbs and maybe snake venom.

Dad was real old school.....he compounded his own mixture. I think it had pine tar derived base as one ingredient, it was that color. Those days are long gone.....the store had a great soda fountain....I haven't had a Coke or Ice Cream Soda that good since.

Or furnucles.

Never made it to the team. Arches "fell" during try outs.

Our school (and probably many/most others) had issues with impetigo from the wrestling mats though.

That staph stuff sure does nasty things to a fella.

Valsdad: I have never had a "boil".
I have had an ingrown hair a time or two and I have had maybe 100 infected cactus barbs in my "arse" and knees and hands!
Now those get to hurtin.

Or, maybe try soap, and a wash rag in a shower more than once every 6 days.

I seem to get a pilonidal cyst every summer. Apparently they're common with motorcycle riders. Talk about pain. Top of the butt crack.
