Light enough to carry a lot, thick enough to not walk too much when hot. What are the government profile barrels primarily used for? I notice some great deals pop up on them from time to time. Would these be more ideal for long-range hunting type shooting or are they more geared towards self-defense type situations?

Greatly prefer shooting the 20" pencil A1s and sights. We have a few A2 uppers. Kinda like a poor man's LMG upper - more controllable than the pencils.
