If you’re able to post a picture of the left side of your rifles receiver that may help shed some light. There were different types of mounts used and the hole spacing/configuration will dictate what mount you’re looking for.

Did you buy the model 71 off of gun broker that was missing the piece of the bolt peep that holds the aperture and adjusts the windage ? It was a 1937 rifle if I remember correctly but I don't remember it being drilled for a scope mount.

Grumpy old man with a gun.....Do not touch . Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Don't bother my monument and I'll leave yours alone.

Here is a link to a company that sells reproduction bolt peep sights and parts to repair original sights with. Not much detail on their site but there is contact info and they can tell you what they have and how much . The repro sight is $440.00 , not sure about part prices but you won't find them anywhere else that I know of. http://oldgunsights.com/Inventory.html

Probably for Scope Clearance..

Skinner sights makes an sight for it. Pedersoli perhaps makes one for their model 71 reproduction. Also an Providence sight may work fine as well. These are fairly affordable.

The originals can be found although reproductions are often advertised as originals. If the receiver on your 71 has been drilled for a scope mount the “originality” factor of the rifle is gone. In my opinion a repro would be fine. You can search for: Lyman peep sight aperture.

Ya it’s a Shooter .. Just trying to put it back together.. Do you know who made side scope mounts for “71” in that circa .. If I knew that then I could try to match hole geometry to a Mount..

Apertures come in different threads so be sure what you buy is the same thread as the sight. I take the aperture out of the sight for hunting . As far as scope mounts go , just about everybody had their own version of a mount for them. Send a picture of the side of the receiver to Old Gun Sights , they might be able to tell you which mount it's drilled for .

Lol, ok, I can live with that.
I killed an elk with my browning carbine and a peep, dropped her like a ton of bricks. It was fun. I get both ways to look at it.
