Twitter has responded to Elon Musk after the tech entrepreneur made a staggering $41.39 billion offer to buy the entire company, take it private, and “unlock its potential.” LINK
On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

The owners might be able to afford a new truck if they hurry.

I wonder if FTC and/or SEC will try to throw a wrench in the works. At the behest of those who pull Biteme's strings, of course.

Saudis rejected the offer. I guess foreigners have a say in the suppression of US freedom of speech. Link

Elon is a Patriot. Wonder if Trump is secretly allied in this? The new Truth Social.. Quite doubtful, no benefit in it for Musk, Truth Social gained insignificant interest with participants and Musk don't need outside financial supporters. He wants full control of his own platform. I'd imagine Trump will be as welcome as anyone to post on Twitter if the takeover happens.

Almost half the available people still can't get on Truth Social, and that doesn't count the ones still waiting in line. Buy it or wreck it, is the game. With that kinda offer, board member refusal is NOT ACTING IN THE BEST INTEREST OF SHARE HOLDERS AND IS REASON FOR THEIR TERMINATION.

He currently owns 73 million shares.
If they refuse, he can dump his shares quickly, or slowly, and watch the share price go WAY down. He could offer to sell 200k shares a day for the bext YEAR at $35-$40 a piece, and the price will stay pegged there all that time.
The other shareholders can complain, but he’s made an offer that is higher than the current share price, and if they refuse, he can dump what he has and blame the out come on THEM, not on some sort of “manipulation”.
I don’t know if the guy is an a-hole or not, but I like his style...

I don’t know if the guy is an a-hole or not, but I like his style... Or now that he knows a thing or two about them he can dump 9.x% of their market capitalization just days before the senior management share price bonus triggers activate ( or don't) based upon share price... He also makes a rather strong point that whatever management says "because it is a private company",it is publicly listed and thus the shareholders have a, rather large, say in the matter, more so than many employees...

Who is he offering to buy it from?
It's owned by shareholders, can the board just agree to sell the shareholders stake and then send them the cash? They lose their investment in return for a price the board accepts? And any future profit?
Stupid question maybe, but how does that work?

He's also guaranteed himself a voice. There is no way Twitter can shut down his account now. It would not go well.

Stupid question maybe, but how does that work? Yes, the board has a fiduciary responsibility to look at and analyze any reasonable offer that is put forth. They are also required to determine if the offer is a reasonable return for the shareholders. Not sure how it works but in the case of a hostile take over, but if the offer is good enough the board can recommend the sale and if the board members hold enough shares they can push the sale through. If they ignore an offer that would be an economic windfall for shareholders they open themselves up for legal liability including removal from the board and/or fiscal damages to shareholders in a class action suit.... The entity is owned by the shareholders, but the majority of them will have relatively low numbers of shares. The larger shareholders usually hold a voting majority and can approve the sale alone as long as they have the votes to do so. Small shareholders lose out to the majority, but in most hostile take overs the shareholders make out like bandits as the offers are quite often far above the existing stock values. The MSM seems to be making the case that others are investing in Twitter in order to stop Elon Musk. It is quite possible and even likely that these savvy investors actually see a chance to get a huge return on their investment and are buying a larger stake now to increase their return when the sale goes through... Let the games begin.

According to Sundance at Conservative Treehouse Twitter's giant data servers are likely owned and controlled by the US Government. Our own government is against free speech. "There is no business model, even with paying subscribers, for Twitter to exist. As the business grows, the costs increase, and the costs to subscribers would grow. So, what is going on? The only way Twitter, with 217 million users, could exist as a viable platform is if they had access to tech systems of incredible scale and performance, and those systems were essentially free or very cheap. The only entity that could possibly provide that level of capacity and scale is the United States Government – combined with a bottomless bank account. If my hunch is correct, Elon Musk is poised to expose the well-kept secret that most social media platforms are operating on U.S. government tech infrastructure and indirect subsidy. Let that sink in. The U.S. technology system, the assembled massive system of connected databases and server networks, is the operating infrastructure that offsets the cost of Twitter to run their own servers and database. The backbone of Twitter is the United States government. There is simply no way the Fourth Branch of Government, the U.S. intelligence system writ large, is going to permit that discovery." Link

Elon is a Patriot. Wonder if Trump is secretly allied in this? The new Truth Social.. I may be wrong, but I don't think Mr.Musk has ever even pretended to be a "Patriot". What he.is...is a Capitalist of the highest order. But, Capitalism is kryptonite to Socialism/Communism, so Patriot, or not, he is on the right side.
The only thing worse than a liberal is a liberal that thinks they're a conservative.
