Carrying a D-handle shovel is a help since it's shorter and there's a D to tie on to. If you have a hard top, you can screw some kind of mounts on top. Just caulk the screw holes.
βIn a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.β β George Orwell
It's not over when you lose. It's over when you quit.
Just put the blade down on the floorboard on something that will keep the blade from digging into the floorboard and let the handle hang out the back unless you have a back glass. You can use a short piece of tarp strap to strap it to the frame or rollbar for just the cost of a tarp strap.
Or cut a piece of pvc pipe big enough to let the handle slide inside of it and the blade will keep it from sliding any farther with the long handle to keep it secure in pipe. Lash this to your rollbar wherever you want to using either tarp straps or hose clamps.
