Most of my 22 cal.bullets are 55 gr and I am not finding others + 55 .My big stock is #1365 Sierra which do ok .The new scatter gun arrives next week (Mini 14 9 twist ) My AR is a 8 twist which handles the 1365 OK .The Mini will be my unscoped calling rifle in the trees so some heavier jump friendly pills for that for under 100 yds. I want to standardize one load for both rifles.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

My favorite bullet for what you seek is the Sierra #1395 65gr SBT very accurate and OAL friendly in 8" and 9" twist.........26gr of Varget should push them along nicely in both rifles

I've killed a bunch of coyotes and several bobcats with the 223 using 50 grain VMax bullets. These have been very fur friendly, even on something as fragile as a bobcat. I'm pushing them around the 3350-3375 fps range.

I have found Nosler BT's to be very jump friendly, as well as most Sierra bullets.

Re. the 1395 Sierras ! I have about 50 of them left and I am reserving them for my 8 twist 22-250 (hopes for a wolf to show when calling coyotes ) I have not been able to buy more of them in the last 2 yrs.I do have a box of the 1390 HPBT which I will try first .It is very difficult to get any of the bullets over 55 gr now but are lucky to get the 55 ! I did get a box of Hornady 55 gr SP at Scheels in Great Falls they are marked as Varmint not VMax I thought Vmax was a varmint bullet .What is the difference ? My thanks to all of you who took your time to respond to my question ..I live about 80 miles from components so I am going to have to change my ways and shop by mail .

kwg,I have the stuff to cook that recipe ! Hello Vern I think max load is 25.3 for a .223. I have shot as low as 24.6 and up to the 25.3 and sure enough, the 25 grains was the most accurate. kwg

kwg I only have H 322 I thought otherwise . Thank you RL10 and AA2015 are in the same burn range. I have found they both deliver good accuracy but I fear the velocity is much lower because they are a fast burning powder. But, I do like the accuracy I get from them so it's worth it to keep some around. kwg

Watching with great enthusiasm. Sadly, Sierra dropped the 55 gr. SMPs in .22 from their line a year or two ago.
