Got home this morning at 2:30 AM, after a 17 hour drive....my friend Tom is RoboDriver, did all the driving, I guess he didn't want me driving his baby : )

Windy, cold, fast antelope, wide open plains......hunted Monday with my 6.5x55 Swede Encore pistol, could not get within 400 yards of a good male. Tuesday switched to a Ruger UL in .243

Set up a stalk on a large group, in the process of going up a large hill when the guide noticed a male with a couple of does in a gully between two smaller hills, cut around the left hill, crawled up the grassy hill, peeked over the edge into the gully, theres the male looking at me, backed up, got the Ruger ready and moved back to the edge over looking the male, he's standing broadside to me at 73 yards, put the cross hairs behind the left shoulder and dropped him with a 95 gr Nolser BT. I am here to tell you all the Nosler BT's on light body game is a killer supreme, third animal I have taken with this setup, all one shot drops, massive damage on the animal's insides.

36 degrees Tuesday morning with 20-30 mph winds. Nothing like lying on the ground watching a herd and having the wind blow right up your pant legs.

Just got back myself. My son, a fellow co-worker and I were in Gillette, WY and hunted around the Recluse area. Just like you we tried several stalks with no success. The rut was about to start so most of the males were around the herd and also trying to keep others bucks away from his does. There was ALOT of chasing going on. It was hard to make a shot. I will post their pictures.

When Ronald Reagan was president, we had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash.
Now that Barack Obama is president, we have NO hope and NO cash.

Congrats on the goat. There is nothing like Wyoming wind to make a hunt tough.

I have had the same result time after time with BT's on whitetails out of my 2506. More dead in their tracks than any other bullet I have used. Not to mention what they do to coyotes. Never yet had a bullet failure, my day may be coming. The internal damage is always massive with BT's.

Wyoming is a great place for speed goats. Seems like always plenty to choose from. They get a little spooky after the first day or two of being shot at. Nice critter though.

Sounds pleasant. Good you still shot well.
I'll have to remember a few extra ponytail bands for my pant cuffs, if I ever go..

Hey nice Antelope, hope you had a fun trip.

I know what you mean, them 95gr's flat do the job. I never had an animal say "is that all you got"

Take Care
