Exceptionally rare left-hand bolt action rifle for sale. J. Jongmans, manufactured 1982 in New Zealand. 7mm-08. Reportedly a total of less than 500 rifles were created by this custom builder, with the number of LH actions unknown. Almost all are still in New Zealand and Australia.
Octagonal barrel, 22 inches. Tang safety, wide trigger face and adjustable. 14.75 inch LOP. Factory bases/rings. Very accurate. The mag capacity is 4 +1, and the bore is in excellent condition. Maker's custom scope base/rings on the rifle.
Jongmans was an engineer and emigrant to New Zealand from the Netherlands, and quite innovative. Not only was he chambering the 7mm-08 cartridge in the South Pacific just a year after it’s adoption by Remington, but his action design also displays entirely innovative features like a hardened replaceable breech ring (a design invented by Jongman and later picked up by Accuracy International in their sniper systems). Competent armorers can replace the ring instead of the entire action if the lug seats should ever significantly wear. This ring is not worn.
Asking $3,900. If you pay full price and insurance, I'll pay for USPS Priority shipping. Seller is not an FFL, so your FFL will need to be willing to accept shipment from me with picture ID. Please inquire for more details IF you actually have $4K ready to spend on a rifle without needing to talk to your wife, aren't "shopping for a friend", won't "go another direction" at the last minute, are looking for a rifle that weighs less than 6 lbs., or otherwise just want cheap entertainment.
