Picked up a #3 recently that has the 2 piece ruger bases installed on the barrel, but no rings. I have tried several combos of rings I had on hand, but no luck. Searching the net for the ring #'s needed has also come up short
Does anyone know what Ruger ring # I need for this? Its a 375 Win

I put Buehler rings and bases on my “Centennial” 22 Hornet in’76. They’re still there. The forward base has a cutout on the bottom, front for the base to clear the iron sight. Of course there’s the rib on a Number One so those mounts/rings won’t work. That 375 wound be fun to work with cast bullets.

Going from memory here, but the front base should be taller than the rear base to compensate for the barrel taper. If the tops of the bases aren't parallel with the bore then it sounds like someone has switched them, measure them to check. The rifle should use two identical rings, like a No.1 (not like a 77).

no these are the correct mounts, found a set on ebay and they're the same thing. i don't believe the no 3 had even mounts, and as you can see the barrel taper angle is already figured into the bases. I've read these can use the same set up as the No 1 varmint, but I still cannot find where it says WHAT PART NUMBER rings I need. The 77 comes with #4 and #5 for example, but these do not line up

Thought Ruger said the #1 V bases could be used on #3 but may require shimming.

Most #3 I see are wearing Weaver bases ( and rings ). The Redfield bases for #3 are ugly too.

Yeah, I used Weavers on mine with a pair of 4B's. MileHigh's picture looks like they are about the same hight.

I used Burris signature rings on weaver bases. Alignment was off so much that I ran out of windage trying to boresight. Offset inserts cured that.

Have Redfield std bases on mine, running Burris signature rings ( gloss- had to buy used off Ebay ). Whoever rebarreled mine driled the scope base holes off so the rear is not centered. Zeroed but annoying. Got the max offset insert to put in and get the windage ring body more centered. Havent yet.

McGowen bbl shoots good. Dunno what taper it is. Bluing nice. Brass shim stock under rear. Alignment bar slides through w ease
PITA though. Rifle was a cluster. Homemade crap forend, junk scope and rings. Tried to go w the V bases and discovered the holes being off ( rear ). Got a Tropical forend and didnt have to open too much for it to fit.
Needs a stud added for bipod. Dont use the Canjar set feature, so will yank and slap in a reg trigger ( and put the Canjar in an old B in 22 250 ).
Thought about a rebarrel to 35 rem. But w that would need a lever mod. Is usable w #1 wood as its just a .219 DW at the moment.

The #3 instruction manual shows a choice of low, medium, high, or offset rings. https://ruger-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/_manuals/no3.pdfWhen looking up those numbers, I find a package with a pair of rings of the same height. I wonder if your rear base is really from a #1V that someone mis-identified. Bruce
