G'day all,
I treated myself to a new rifle for Christmas - a LH Tikka T1X in .17HMR. I have been toying with the idea of adding a 17HMR to the safe for a while now and figured life is short, do it while there is one available. Anyway, very impressed with its accuracy when sighing in and went after bunnies yesterday - I shot 5 rabbits and one hare. The 17HMR (Hornady 17 grain) seems very effective with head shots, heart/lung shots less so with a couple of follow ups required - quick and easy with the bolt on the correct side.
With this addition my bolt guns are the LH Tikka T1X, a LH T3X in .223 and a LH T3X in 7mm08...anyone would think I liked these Tikkas.

I know - a few times I had to check that there was a round in the chamber given how smooth it had cycled. Very, very happy with the purchase.

Great guns, picked up a righty t1x 17 last year. All I could find was some hornady ammo and first 10 shot groups were at most 1 1/4 @100in. Very pleased with it. I found a ctr stock on ebay for cheap and it now resides in that. Its a sweetheart when suppressed also.

I bought one from a member here. It's a fun gun to shoot and extremely smooth and accurate. I haven't figured out what I'll use it for, other than plinking. It'd probably be a great gun for rabbits. I expect it might be a little explosive on squirrels.

While I prefer my 223 for reach and punch, I really like the low risk of ricochet with the 17 HMR when hunting semi-urban areas like the property I visited this week. It is quieter than expected as well with the small and light suppressor I have on it.

The .17 HMR in lefty (16' bbl) is available from Euro Optics, price is up about a $100 from last year. Wish I had a need for one smile

bought my LH 17 HMR last year from EuroOptic and shot prairie dogs with it. It's a great rifle that is really accurate.

Tikka rifles are one of the best for getting accuracy in any caliber. Congratulations and the .17 HMR is on my list of need to add to my collection.

I have been keeping an eye out for one but no luck. Would really love one to round out the selection in the safe.

I have a T3x in 6.5 and it's become a very specialized night hunting gun for me. With the flat top receiver, it works very well with a picatinny rail, where the rail is not obscuring any part of the ejection port. Then it also takes 5rd extended mags. I also threaded my barrel for 1/2" x 28.

It now wears a Pulsar Thermal XQ-50 and a Nomad 30 suppressor and has become a nighttime hog killing machine. 16 hogs, 2 coons and 1 skunk in my last 2 outings. It's been a very nice setup.

They showed up here, north of the 49th, but were sold out everywhere within a day or two. They do exist tho!

Mine shoots very well. Pretty happy with it.
