All I can say is that I feel like I paid my "fair share" and then some.......for every extra $10k you pay in federal income tax you should get an extra vote!

A little tale of the IRS's power. In 1985 a competitor/friend of mine also had a field service truck for mechanic/welding. His marriage blew up, acrimonious doesn't begin to describe it. Court stipulated the property division, brutal (California) but she felt she should have gotten even more. She wanted his truck too, which was his only means of income. She said if you don't give me half the trucks value I'm going to rain hell on you. He said, get lost, the court made the final division of property and you signed off on it, too late now asking for more. Well, she made good on her threat. I guess they have a reward system for ratting somebody out on taxes. She turned him in for not reporting cash payments for work done, She had no legal evidence, IRS had no legal evidence, not one single deposition from customers of his...but, IRS does not need to meet a legal standard, no court order either. So they impounded the truck, complete with tools and eventually issued a warrant for his arrest. I think he fled the country and started over somewhere else. Land of the free, home of the brave.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

How are they voluntary if you go to prison for not paying them?

Newswires are saying Slo Joe wants $80 BILLION in funding for the IRS to double its number of employees. That'll help thing for sure [sarc]Got mine done this weekend and mailing it in today. Read somewhere that 96% of folks file electronically. I'm a 4-percenter. I did it electronically last year and never got my refund.  Seems like it is a 50-50 split on da 'Fire as to mail-in vs. electronic.
