... This is more to my liking, perfection in style and usefulness, The Colt SAA and especially the first generation models... Very nice gun and an interesting proof mark. But where does it come from? Second paragraph in the letter...

Even better, 2 first generation Colts with buffalo bone grips. No plastic...

I kinda like my Smiths as well, but nothing like a Colt though.. I'm told this one's fairly desirable.

I'm on the hunt for the 3",,, Pretty cool. I used to have a snubby Python with the compact, factory checkered wood grips, which I think had a 2.5" barrel. Sorry I sold it, but couldn't resist getting $1,800.00 for a gun I paid about $500.00 for. Looked like this:

I’m pretty fond of the way these 2 came out looking. Bowen even photographed them and put them in the Classic Arms Journal before he sent them back to me.

One of the nicer looking revolvers. Colt Diamondback. Agreed. But why does yours have a gold medallion and mine has a silver medallion?

For Diamondbacks they used a silver medallion until the early '80's and then gold medallions after that.

I only know because I made the same observation about 6 months ago. A guy at a gun show was selling 3 Diamondbacks and two had silver medallions and one had gold. When I asked, a friend of mine blurted out that answer. Now he's a man who eats, sleeps, and breathes everything Colt; so I'm only assuming its either right or pretty close.

That's pretty obscure knowledge to have off the top of one's head short of being a real Colt aficionado.
