I'm wanting to add a Vortex Venom reflex sight on my AR - I have a Leupold VX3 scope in a Bobro mount on it now.

Since to reflex sight sits lower than the Leupy, I assume your suppose to cant the AR to put the reflex sight closer to above the bore? Thanks.

If you're going to keep both optics on the rifle, you'll need to get a 45 degree mount to use the Venom. Yes you cant it when using the Venom on close in targets. If you are taking off the scope and using the Venom by itself, you may need a riser on the rifle to raise the Venom a little higher since you say it will sit lower than the scope. Some of this is trial and error through experimentation to figure out what works for you.

With all types of sights, you will have sight off-set differences at close in ranges. It's not a big deal unless you are trying to make "A" Zone head shots at 3-7yrds. Just practice to figure out what those holds are going to look like through the sight so they become intuitive to you when you bring the gun up..

Have one rig irons w a DD mount and reflex.
Prefer clocked and not cowitnessed.

Its stupid easy/ fast 👍

It does make the rig wider, for streamlined cowitness is better. Still prefer clocked.

The Venom is really intended as a pistol site. You can run it in conjunction with a scope if you offset at 45 degrees. If the intent is to replace the scope and run it 12 o'clock I think you'd be better served with something like a Spark. Unless you are using this rifle as a competition piece, I'm not a fan of canted sites. Long experience has taught me to keep things "in the vertical plane". Stuff that sticks out the sides gets scuffed off or broken.
