What, in your experience has been the best built, machined, designed bolt action, action?
Could be old military, a new modern clone, a bone stock factory?
This is to start a custom project in lefty.
Tight tolerances , bank vault like, rattle free, great design?

For what kind of hunting?

Perfect for what purpose? Design then Mauser. Accuracy then I suspect some 700 clone.

I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Purpose would be hunting ungulates. Thinking 7mm or 300wm.

First you asked about the perfect bolt action now you've switched to caliber. Is that what you originally meant? All ungulates or deer or moose or deer up to moose? Across normal distances out to 300 yards here in NA? If so, then the short answer is a M70 or M98 in 3006 flinging 180 grain NPs. That's it. Everything else is just up or down the ladder from there.
The way life should be.

Your wrong handed, they didn't make L61R's for lefties. So buy a stock Tikka and be done with it...mb

Perfect for me is a P64 Model 70 or a Defiance Deviant with CRF and 3 POS safety.

If you are up in the clouds working on your sheep slam, that could conceivably be a specific set of action requirements.
Or how about picking a fight with cape buffalos across all of Africa? Probably a different set of requirements.
Then there's the big stuff in wet & cold Alaska - I'd probably not want super-tight tolerances and would want it easy to disassemble to keep clean, dry, oiled, etc.
Too dang much fun...

There is no single rifle action that is "best" or "perfect" for all applications. You will have to provide some more parameters to get any meaningful suggestions: Open country or dense forest? At altitude, or on lower ground? Covering lots of ground on foot, or sitting in a tree stand? Do you want to truly "hunt" (i.e., stalk close to your quarry) or take extremely long shots?

Let me expound a bit. Hunting North America or African Plains. Elk, Caliber 7mm or 300 wm so long action with a magnum bolt face. Not tactical, or competition. Paper for fun
As I am lefty, and options are more restricted. I have a couple of M70s already. One is very nice in 300wsm and the other is rattly
I like CRF. I asked about old Mausers as there are left hand Zastavas available out there. No Idea if they are good or great or to be avoided
Leaning at ARC Mausingfield and Nucleus or Bighorn Origin. Or the Defiance with all the upgrades. Plus shouldered prefits are nice to switch barrels
But bone stock or modifying an older one if one can be found that meets original criteria.
I like things that are well made and I am patient enough to assemble and then build. I am simply asking as the combined wealth of knowledge and wisdom here may unearth other options
So far, Win 70, Weatherby Mark 5 and Tikka. Weatherbys in left are in weatherby cartridges only and that ammo is an issue. I do not reload yet, and you need a FFL in NY to ship ammo
That vudoo is exactly the type of info that is helpful but in rimfire. Looks really well made. Another example would be a Winchester sx1. One of The best machined SA ever and for 500-1000 theses days.
Thank you in advance.

Why? COAL latitude. Hint.
Don't reload. Simply go 6.5 Kreedmire in S/S Teeker and thank me later. Hint.................

The new LX-1 being produced in Millville , Utah by D'Arcy Echols is a state of the art mixture of Mauser M98 & Winchester M70, with unique upgrades and enhancements to improve performance, reliability and longevity . And available in both Right & Left hand versions.
