Northern MN Whitetails:
For still hunting I take the good old Marlin 30-30.
For the stand I will use my Browning Pump Rifle 30-06. Just picked up a Leupold 1X4 scope that should be good in the woods. Always relied on open sights but figured that with age the eyes could use the light collection factor of a scope during low light periods.

It is not enough to fight for natural land and the west; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it's still there. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends...

Have you heard of Northern Outdoors Outfitters in Maine? I would like to go there. Saw their website it is great in the Internet, but I need references besides the ones they provided.

Several years ago I inherited a 1955 Winchester model 70 300H&H. I did not really want to drag it around in the field as it is 98% +. This year I picked up a cut beat up stock that I put a large recoil pad on the get the LOP right so it will go hunting this year, a bit much for deer but I bet it will work just fine. Heck I am the same vintage, so if I can so can the model 70.As a backup my Steyr SBS in 6.5X57. It will be my first time to Nebraska my wifes brother is the district ranger.
