These MF'RS are raising prices on everything. The local IGA has raised the prices on gallon drinking water from .90 cents a gallon to 1.99 a gallon. These stores are making a fortune on the backs of good People. This CRAP needs to STOP!! 
Due to the increased price of ammo, don't expect a warning shot...

I'm guessing an awful lot of the cost increase is associated in getting the one-gallon jug to the store and the making of the container.

I'm guessing an awful lot of the cost increase is associated in getting the one-gallon jug to the store and the making of the container. Freight rates, on average have gone up about 55-56% over the last 2 years. The consumer is going to be paying for that one way or another. Water is dense - which means you weigh out before you cube out on a trailer - load up a truck with bottled water and you'll hit 80k gross with a lot of room to spare - makes it inefficient. Know a guy who used to be big with Nestle Waters, does a lot of work with food and beverage supply chain - bottled water has a VERY low margin.

Do you have running water in your house? good one Mine's from our well, but even city water can be cleaned up with a simple filter for drinking purposes. And reusable bottles are not that expensive, given the lifetime of use one can get. Need a water bottle? No need to support China. Here, support an American business that puts out a decent product. Nestle Waters was just sold CHEAP - IIRC basically you got Nestle Waters, their brands, good will, marketing and facilities in North American for the cost of 1 year's revenue. And they had a hard time doing it at that. Even on small margin spread over billions of transactions. The 2 PE's that bought them are known for being ruthless when it comes to efficiency - one had originally bought Pabst when it was for sale and turned it around.

Teal, how many water brands did Nestle own? Maybe they should have stuck with chocolate?
I'm thinking the proliferation of other brands, including store brands like Kirkland and Great Value, seriously cut into their margins.

Stores must be spreading their cost increases on certain products across all products they stock including everything that they haven't had any noticeable price increase on.
I don't doubt, either, that some stores are raising prices now not because they need to, but just because they know they can and get away with it now as everyone else is.
