Anyone have load data to help me? I have a bunch of H322 and does wonders with Sierra 55gr bthp ( best 5x .13).

I have a few boxes of 40gr vmax I want to load up for squirrels but no H322 listed with Hornady. I dont have any other suitable powders.

jNever used 322, but if you have any VV 133 or can get some that stuff is just magic in a 223 with 50's and 40's. Working/accuracy load in my 20" truck gun is 19.5 / 133 and a 40Vmax at 3895. A very minimal chamber with 0 freebore. Works really well......in MY barrel.

I've used it with 40 grain V Maxes...This is older data, but I run it with 27.5 grains of H 322...

Bolt action but it never seemed to concern the brass or the primer pocket... nor the rifle.

I do load the bullet to magazine length.....

similar loads... with 28 grains of Benchmark...or 28 grains of RL 7....Lake City brass usually used...

Just work up a few rounds from say 26 grains, just to make sure... max for H 322 has been moving around some on load manuals...

I've never had an issue with it... like 3031, it doesn't seem to pressure spike, but max pressure seems to just level off or be flat instead of like a bell curve.

H 322 also seems to be more accurate the hotter ya run it, than slowing it down some...

at least in my experience... and I do burn a lot of it in various cartridges...

ok thanks! I always used 335 but due to scarcity I got 4# of 322. was crazy accurate with 55gr so I figured why not with 40!

I shot some loads today. 27.5 was 1/2in 5x with me not shooting that great. 3625fps. The primers didnt show over pressure at all. I'm not even sure if can get serious over pressure with that little bullet before it scoots out the end of the bbl. But there's most likely a point of diminsing returns. I'll try bumping it up a bit. I expect it to shoot in the 2's. I have a sako A1. it loves 55gr and best 5x is .13. I dont think these little 40gr really 'fit' lots of jump with 2/3 neck grab. But good enuf if satisfied with 1 moa max for plinking at rats.

just passing it on Tesoro...

but using Lake City Brass ( don't try this with Federal Brass)...

with a 40 grain V Max.. 28 grains of RL 7 will hit 4000 fps from a 223....22 inch barrel...

Where is my reference on that? Personally working it up in multiple 223s.. each bolt actions...

its over published book loads.....

but I've never popped a primer, and never had it loosen primer pockets either...

and I'll bet if I haven't shot over 10,000 of those loads.. then its awfully close to that many over the last 20 plus years....

Thx very much! Now we are talkin!! [bleep] it is such a drag not being able to easily get the powders you want ! I use Lapua in my little 24in Sako and anneal the brass each firing. If I cant find RL7 will try the creeping up with the H322 in 2/10 g increments and see what happens! RL7 is a bit faster than 322 but I have a 24in and you 22in so might be about the same results.

Experiment failed! Max in my gun was 3730fps up to case neck. Same speed 3/4 way up case neck. Pressure was fine.

I guess RL7 must be much finer than the mini log H322. The faster burn is more relevant than I thought it would be vs bbl length.

I cant find RL7 anywhere. Bummer
