My buddy recently picked up a very nice Ruger 77 in 30-06 and he and I are trying to identify the model....here's the description: ltralight barrel with Ruger front sight and no rear sight on barrel. Not D/T on barrel for rear sight. Rear sight appears to be a Williams Receiver Sight without Williams logo. The receiver sight is at the back of the action as usual for that type of sight.
WTH does he have?

Whats the stock look like Vern?
Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

A 77 RL with sights installed after it left the factory?
Ruger cataloged the 77 RLS with both front and rear sights and never cataloged a factory installed receiver sight that I recall.
Ruger front sights are pretty easy to find and install. I've put them on 77R barreled actions that I cut the barrels back on and installed in 77 RSI stocks. I put the Ruger front sights on for the aesthetic value, as to my eyes, rifles that have mannlicher-style stocks look better with a front sight installed than with a slick barrel.

I've called Ruger customer service and got mixed results.
Once had a guy tell me that the rifle that I was holding didn't exist, said that they never stamped any of their rifles with both 280 and 7MM EXP REM, but there are some out there with that factory roll stamp.
