WTB-1953 Marlin Mountie w/24" Barrel

I do not think they made them with a 24" barrel.I had one with a 20" barrel and they are very scarce if not unobtainum.

I think the few Mounties made in 53 did have a 24” barrel or at least a few did and then In 54 they went to the 20” barrel as standard for the Mounty. They did not stamp them as Mounties until 57. It’s a rare one if you find it and probably not cheap if in decent condition and the seller knows what they are selling. Good luck on your quest.

I have a 53 Marlin 39a with 24 inch barrel. How do you know if its a Mountie. Mine not for sale either way.

This is right. I owned one but sold it 2 years ago. They are out there.

glosto-A 1953 Mountie will have a straight grip stock, not curved. Serial will start with K

Is as of ‘54 but in ‘53 not. The 53 is a rare one

I have a Golden Mountie myself and it was the shorter barrel version. Didn’t realize that a Mountie was also available in a longer barrel?

1953 was the first year for the Mountie, 4,335 of the 24" barrel rifles were produced.

I have a 54 Mountie and sort of the inverse of the 53 Mountie which is a 39D - pistol grip stock with 20" barrel. 39D is also fairly rare as it was only produced for two years.
