Could I please have your opinion on Ramshot Hunter powder for use in the 30-06? (mid-range size of 165 to 180 grain pills)
I will be getting some in from Hodgdon and have never used any of the Ramshot product line.
Your thoughts as to "thumbs-up" or "thumbs-down"??
Thanks much!

I love Hunter in the .06. I use it with 165 & 180 Grainers. Fast and accurate. I Use 60.5 Grains with both loads. 2900 fps with 165's and 2830 with 180's over my chrono. Both loads were worked up based on accuracy and fps consistency.

I'm a big fan of Hunter so far. I'm still doing load development with different bullets but I get 1/2"groups at 100 yards with 165 gn nosler ballistic tips and 53.5 gn of Hunter powder.

I’m new to using Hunter in .30-06, but it gets a thumbs up from me.

Hunter should do very well!
I have shot IMR 4350 forever. Recently tried H4350 with Rem 9 1/2 in Win brass with 180g Nosler ballistic tips, with amazing accuracy on the Red Line of pressure.
R#26 with a cci 250 with a 200g is 2800 fps in my 24" barrel, very accurate.
165g Speer btsp has been my main stay with IMR 4350 for years, along with 165g Hornady flat base Interlock. I shoot for the diaphram, takes out lungs, heart also without ruining the very little meat on the shoulder.

Accuracy is key but your load sounds slooooooowwwww…

Thanks for all the tips on Hunter powder in the 06'.
I also will give it a whirl in the 6.5 swede I have for the fun of it. (new commercial action Howa, so it can take the pressure)
Also, thanks to Pharmseller for the reminder to use a mag primer. I've got a brick of those that was missing some ball-powder to use them with!!
Cheers to all.

I can not emphasis the importance of useing a "MAGNUM PRIMER" enouph when useing hunter powder in the 30/06. It is an excellent powder with 180 grain bullets
Good bullets properly placed always work, but not everyone knows what good bullets are, or can reliably place them in the field

By the way, I also have about 400 200-grain partitions in stock that might like Hunter…..
Fun times ahead!

Here’s another thumbs up for Hunter powder in the ‘06! Near max load under a 165g Accubond, Lapua cases, and CCI br2 primers gets me sub moa from a box stock M70 Severe Weather. H4350 gives virtually identical results as well. While I’ve not found an advantage in magnum primers, it sure wouldn’t hurt to try them…you never know. Good Hunting!
