i have a yildiz in 20 gauge, and a baikal manufactured remington in 20 gauge. the yildiz is manufactured in turkey and shipped to the u.s. via briley in katy, texas. it functions flawlessly and actually looks pretty good. the action is light, the metalwork is laser engraved, so it's not handwork like a fine shotgun, but it came with 5 chokes, a relatively nice, if poorly checkered stock, and set me back $400 usd plus tax. the baikal 20 gauge i picked up last week has rougher wood, the ejector on the top barrel won't consistently pick up the spent shell, and both of the ejectors tend to mangle the spent rims. i also paid $400 for that gun, and while it's acting like a 'too cheap' gun, the yildiz is a star performed and a nice looker... from afar...
yes, for what i spent on them i could have bought a used citori. but then i wouldn't have 2 o/u bird guns now, would i...

There are a lot of O/Us out there but you would have trouble trumping a Browning citori in its price range and certainly below. I had several Browning Citoris in one form or another until I went to SxSs and really liked every one.

Yeah, they look purdy on the outside, but just remove the buttstock and take a gander at the innards. Then do the same with the Browning or SKB and tell me what you see..
Not only that, but the sear surfaces on those Turkey guns have very little, if any, heat treatment and a common file will work. Won't happen on the other two.. Which means in a few hundred rounds those imports will fail. Then what do you have??? A nightmare obtaining parts to repair a firearm that is so crude on the inside that it's a wonder anything works at all..
Most smiths I know won't even touch 'em... I know I won't...
I realize they're priced at a truly affordable level for the casual shooter. JJ runs a hunting outfit and cannot afford to have a firearm that will give limited and/or unreliable service. His reputation and customers demand otherwise. To that end, he's much better off with a Citori or SKB or similar since they're well built, parts and service are readily available and won't fall apart under potentially severe hunting situations..
NOT flaming anyone/anything.. Just stating facts as I see 'em...

The Mossberg Silver Reserve O/U is bottom line of the O/U that are quality. Comes with 5 chokes (Beretta choke tubes) not Mosberg choke tubes. Cost is around $500 new. Wood and metal fit is not a Kriegoff or a Browning but for a beater like you are asking for you should take a look at it. For $599 you can even get one ported.
