Make all the Kentucky jokes ya want, I understand. Meth head jokes too. Never done it but honestly, I could pass for it. Heredity & periodontal disease has just about come full circle. Spent thousands trying to save them, but it was a loosing battle.
Expected 5-6 grand for extraction of what's left & fitting premium dentures. Ha! need bone work under my gums, or implant studs for clip on teeth. Bone work & dentures, about $9500. Or put in studs @ $3000 each, would need 6-7 of them . But the bright side is, we could skip the bone work. Save 3 grand, spend 20, so that's out.
Head whirling tonight, wondering about a coffee, milkshake, mashed potato, & beer diet for the rest of my days. Dammit, I'd surely miss a good rare steak most of all.
Appearances way down the list as I'm not looking for a job, a woman or running for office. But doggonit, I sure do like to eat.

Get a second opinion and quote on the extraction/graft/dentures route. All in all, it is your health and happiness you are focusing on. Best of luck in the choice and procedures.

I've had all mine pulled. Crohns disease was hard on my body, kept me from absorbing nutrients like normal. Also had 3 kids, and I was the only wage earner. Just wasn't enough $$$ to keep up with them. Honestly, I like my dentures. Can eat with or without em, and best of all no toothaches.

Teeth were optional in the area and time frame I grew up in. My dad had poor teeth, no care when he was young and just bad genetics I guess. He spent thousands later trying to keep them only to end up with dentures. Kept them in his pocket most of the time... He could gum down a steak in less time than I could chew one down.

They started @ $10,700 & after I insisted cash or check payment the day of procedure it went to $9400.
And YES! a second opinion is warranted, IMO. Thanks for the input.

Have some retired acquaintances who go to Mexico. Trips down/back and procedures run around 1/3rd of US costs. Savings of 50 to 70%. None have had any complications, but with any source there's always that risk. Seventy-six here with some root canals and caps, but still packing the originals and am not losing any weight. Only aware of their presence during the AM/PM brushing.

If it has whipped cream and chocolate drizzles on it, it’s dessert. Grow up and get a coffee damnit

Dentures will never feel as natural and work as well as your God given teeth but they do work well enough for the purpose intended and you can and will get use to them IF they were made correctly to begin with.
Over time you will most likely have more bone loss and changing of shape of gums so you can expect to have dentures 'relined' to continue to fit properly every few years or so. For me the most noticeable thing has been some foods tend to 'collect' between inside of cheek and outside of 'gum' on plate. You learn how to eat things like corn on the cob, fresh raw apples, etc. Also, you will occasionally get a seed or something equally uncomfortable under denture regardless how well fitting it is.
Hard to believe how expensive dental work has gotten, though. When I got my denture (top plate only) the entire shooting match, extractions and new plate) was less than $300, ...20 - 25 years later I got a new top-of the-line upper plate and it was less than $400 total. They usually try to match as close as possible to the shade of white of your existing real teeth.
I let my gum heal before getting fitted for my first denture.

Had his teeth done there, and it was cheap compared to here

Mexico is your friend. Pennies on the dollar and most do dang good work. One guy did teeth in the mornings and hysterectomies in the afternoons.

Go with the implants, guaranteed it will be the best money you ever spent. Start with what is called 4 on 4 https://www.bing.com/images/search?...STAB&first=1&tsc=ImageHoverTitleDentures are miserable, painful and just plain don't perform. Clip ons are pretty dang nice and work very well but still need to have the hardware tuned up at least once a year, that can be very expensive and they tend to break after a couple of years. If at all possible spend the extra money now and anchor em in. In the long run you will be money ahead they will be very comfortable, look good, very strong and function far better than you ever could of imagined.

Heard of people going to Mexico to save money on implants. No idea of any of the details, only they crossed the border near Yuma, AZ

Sucks having to chew with your front teeth, and then floss and pick at your teeth after you eat.
Life is good live it while you can.
