Carry what you are comfortable carrying, and what you shoot well with.

Many folks over think it. wink

This is the statistically perfect gunfight. FBI stats say the average gunfight includes three rounds fired over three seconds from a distance of 3 yards.

What's the variance?

Well, that settles it. If the FBI says it, it must be true.

Wondering what reason the FBI would have to alter statistics on what happens in a gun fight - specifically to alter that average to 3 shots, 9 feet in 3 seconds.

It was really more of a flippant commentary on the general integrity of the FBI. They may have actually let something truthful slip out; if they did it was an accident.

No, because I don't have one. I would if I did. I used to have a Delta Elite and regret letting it go!

As an aside, yesterday I read an article on Clint Smith's Thunder Ranch in Oregon. In the article it mentioned that Clint, a "forever" 1911 carrier, has now gone to a lighter weight pistol. It did not mention what that pistol or caliber was. Apparently, Smith has sold Thunder Ranch and he and his wife, Heidi, have moved to Las Vegas. He'd be 73 now. Time to slow down a bit, it seems, and not pack such "heavy" iron. wink

Yes, A BUL Armory 45 SAS II Ultralite.14+1 and an extra mag. Great little gun and it shoots well. Lately, I have been carrying the new S&W 2.0 10mm 4". I like it a lot too. 15+1 and I use an SRO optic. It really just depends on my mood that day.

When I first got my SDA* card, I carried a S&W M10.
That dude was like hauling a lead brick around!
My eldest had a RIA .45 ACP here, so I started carrying that. No difference, really, between the two. Except one was a pistol, the other a revolver. LOL!

Now, I don't have any idea of weight difference, but the S&W M&P "Shield" .40 S&W I carry daily is a breeze.

Gov Kevin Stitt (R-OK) has signed "Constitutional Carry" into law. My SDA is due for renewal this year, except I won't need to renew it!
Thank you Kevin Stitt!

Why do you carry a 45? Cause they don't make a 46

LT col 45 light weight frame.

No problems carrying around all day at the deer lease. a little bulky sometime for summer concealed carry.

I wish my 8 round mags lasted as long as the 6 shooters in westerns.

Pat Rogers wrote an article for Swat Magazine titled "Putting Down the Man Gun", about why he switched from the Colt 1911 in 45 ACP to the Smith & Wesson M&P in 9mm Parabellum. I thought that it was a pretty well reasoned article.

In 1911 it was an improvement over a Peacemaker. Now we have Glocks!!

I can carry 2 times the number of rounds for the same weight and size.

Actually, I think the 1911 has gained much more popularity and many more companies are making excellent versions of them... After the Glock came out. wink

I also don't like having to worry if the mag springs have finally gone soft on me!

Never had a Glock mag failure...

If I'm not pocket carrying, which is usually what I do, then I like to carry the 1911.

I have, mine was a Kimber, and they are nice pistols, but for that bulk and weight give me a Glock 10mm with 15 + 1 all day long.

No, because I have no a$$, and I'd have to cinch my belt so tight to keep my pants from falling down I wouldn't be able to breathe
