How much was it listed for? It's showing sold now.
Very sharp rifle, nicer than what I normally go after.

I think they were asking $2000.

Holy cow. Were those swivels factory?
That seems pretty steep for an EG, even a pre-war in nice shape. Apparently not too steep though, given it sold.

Forearm doesn't look right to me. The schnabel has been sanded off. However the rifle has that "it" factor of condition and is, IIRC, a early unchecked "EG" model.

I think it is an early Spiegel. Enlarge the 1st pic and you can see the Spiegel rear taps on each side of the cocking indicator. Swivels and loops, too.

Holy cow. Were those swivels factory? I believe so. Since it's d&t'd on either side of the cocking indicator it may be a variation of what we've been calling Spiegel rifles. No roll stamp or checking but it sure is a clean looking rifle. ...Keith got it.

Ding ding.. winner! At least as far as I can see. Spiegel EG Style 1, before the roll stamps were added. I have the years for it as 1937-1938, they say it's a 1936 gun but don't give the serial number.
It's really hard to tell how many of these Spiegels go by that don't have the roll stamp, whether they are early uncheckered or late checkered. To easy to just skip over as an EG with aftermarket studs and never notice the d&t on top.

Now the question is... does the buyer know what the extra holes are given that they were not listed in the details of the posting. Will it get returned?
