My safe takes a 9 volt battery and a big key if battery fails, key is kept in safe deposit box at our bank. What brand is this?

For you paranoid types, electronic won’t work after an EMP. Uh, not true. Some locks are EMP tested/approved. Liberty Safe's electronic locks are EMP tested. Sargent and Greenleaf has EMP-resistant electronic gun safe locks.

Unless you wrap the entire safe in a Faraday cage, the lock may work but any electronic sights such as red dots are going to fry. Also resistant doesn’t mean EMP proof. Kinda like the difference between a watch that is water resistant or one that’s waterproof.

There's another option, it's a combination electronic keypad with a dial backup. They have great reviews, but unfortunately are difficult to find right now with the supply chain shortages. Securam XtremeI did find a place that has them in-stock and just ordered one to replace my keypad on my Browning safe. Securam Xtreme in-stockMy Securam Xtreme dual lock arrived while I was away on business. If I can get a bunch of chores done, I might tackle installing it tomorrow. I'll report back on how it goes. The dual lock gets great reviews, it's a quality company and I'll now have the quick access of an electronic lock and the peace of mind of a dial lock reliability.
