It's a shame that CZ has discontinued the Model 550 Safari rifles, as they can be made into some great ultra-large bore customs. I've had American Hunting Rifles in Corvallis, Montana, make me a .600 Overkill, a .585 Nyati, and a .550 Magnum on the big 550 action. Is anybody out there shooting some of these big bores?

I've got a 375 and 458. Prices were going up healthily while they were still being manufactured, but are even better now. I think I'll leave them as stock for now, already have a 500NE anyway, and not keen to go bigger. My friend's 505Gibbs is just beyond my fun threshold.

The .500 Nitro is tough to beat. Both my PH and I used them in Mozambique last November. Both doubles were Merkels. Great guns for the money. The last CZ 550 .375 I bought was rebarreled to .470 Capstick, an easy conversion. I do miss the CZ 550s.
