If I remember correctly he used a fixed 8x Leupold that had outside adjustments on the rear. At least that's what I read

He was quite a man and probably the greatest sniper of his day considering what he did and the missions he accomplished. Not trying to belittle anyone else because we've had a lot of fine marksmen. Remember he made long range kills without the help of many of our modern gadgets that make it a lot easier. He killed with a variety of weapons with skill. When he was a kid he hunted with a 22 and preferred rifles to shotguns taking all sorts of game at differing ranges with that 22. God Bless Him.

Unertl is correct. Great Marine and American. He was also a top notch long range shooter for the USMC rifle team. I knew his son and spent some time with him in the mid 2000s. He was a great shooter as well.

Guys, he may be in Heaven, but remember please that he was a LONG range sniper. Choose your words carefully when speaking of White Feather.

i have got to hear some true Viet Nam stories from a friend who lives close to me that , i have also hunted with him , i heard many stories about Viet Nam in his words said ya i used to hunt with Carlos Hathcock . i fell for it and asked where ? he said in Viet Nam, this Marine was in charge of a few Marines who took Carlos Hathcock out and went and got him in enemy lines sometimes many miles walking they were known by Carlos Hathcock the good guys and one other unit did not go get Carlos for safety back in from a mission. after that he ask the superior in charge of camp he only ever wanted that team of good guys Carlos named them my friend was in charge of that unit. over the years i have got to listen to some great stories that are not in any books. my friend has now for the last few years been fighting cancer because of agent orange , he too was wounded over there in Viet Nam too. >> bless them all that was a nasty war fought by young man , myself as a pole climbing lineman my life profession i worked with many Viet Nam vets who also were linemen all these soldiers were tough hard workers and fun in the bar with too ! Carlos Hathcock Happy Birthday the true legend !

But I’m sure your criticism of his writing will cause him to alter his style, you being so important and all. RIP Carlos Hathcock. P
