I have one on my F in 303. It was a catalogued option. I asked about it when I first came here. I think Don has a couple. Some one posted a pic of one in an early catalogue.
I think the model/patent on the Marbles Improved was 1899 and it was only in a few catalogues.

Since the 1902 engraved rifle I got back in March has the wrong front sight, I might look for one of those. I need a Rocky Mountain for my rifle. The one on it is bent, and it has a 1909 patent.

Take the one that's on your F and put it on the A

Catalog No 24, circa 1908~1909, is the first Savage catalog I've found to list any Marble's sights. It has the improved front sight listed and the flexible tang sight. The front sight is listed as the No 3W & No 3G (letter for the bead color), the only reference to it being Marble's is the name shown on it in the illustration.
I never could find a patent for that sight, if anyone has a patent number or date I would appreciate getting it.

Take the one that's on your F and put it on the A wish I could. I'd have to got look at it, but I think it was Bubba'ed on. I think it's brazed on. That's one of my favorite rifles and I can't remember what'ss wrong with the sight. If I go check and it will come off I may swap it. I'd like to get a catalogued sight for it, with an appropriate patent date on the sight. It sucks' having a 1909 patent on a 1902 rifle. Gene, I think I remember how I worded the search. I'm pretty sure I read it had an 1899 Patent.

Wow, ten years ago I found several good articles on that specific sight. Now all I can find is marbles sights for Rossi's Marlins, and Winchesters. i did find one in pretty nice shape for $97.50. But no info.

Here's the one on my 26 F, 303. Looks like it's brazed on.

After reading the above article, I'm pretty sure the wrong rear sight on the 1902, is the Marbles Sporting rear sight with white diamond, in the picture. Maybe I'll leave it on there till I find out for sure.
I went back to buy the #3 for $97.50 and it was sold, RATZ.
