Is there any place that this is legal? I ran across this description of some light made for the rear of a vehicle. Maybe it's legal in China where they're made. LED's can change color depending on the input signal.
I have white "turn signals" on my motorcycle that turn amber when the actual turn signal is engaged. They're basic white running lights until I hit the switch, then they flash amber.
Could be situation with these - hit the brakes, you get a brake light, hit reverse, bright white back up etc.

Federal law dictates vehicle lighting. Those would be illegal for driving lights. There's a guy around here who's headlights on his jeep have a red led ring around them. At dusk it appears from a distance that he's traveling away from you instead of towards you. Can't wait to see him get stopped by LE.

Read the quote in the OP. They're 2 stage, bright for backup, dim for tail lights. I saw that. Guessing they are intended to have red lenses if tails.
