Every blonde bear I've ever found was a dink. Seems very rare in NE WA and N Idaho to see a blonde one over 125lbs. That's a neat bear. Thats pretty much been my experience, the one I posted above squared 6'1" and was the biggest blonde Ive ever seen. My own theory is that because they are visible, they get killed by other bears or hunters before they get big.

That was the first ber that we saw and my guide said he was not the biggest bear that we would see, but I told my guide that the color and hide condition was more important to me that the bear's size. BANG!!

^^^ this has been my theory as well and I THINK I've read that. I've literally seen 100s of bears up here over the years. The most blonde are generally the 1.5year cubs. We have LOTS of color. In fact...black...is the oddity. Most are some phase of red/chocolate/brown.....but NOT blonde. Or not a decent one that light. Again...super cool.
Please God, give me some good tags this year....

I didn't realize the video would actually play. Would you tell me what model trail cam that was? Kinda floored the mic and sound worked. I'm interested if it's around $170

Nice coat, but big ears, seems small to me, and will be bigger next year or two.
I would have passed on him.
Industry misnomer:The 270 Winchester, 7mm Rem Mag, 30-06 Springfield, ect, are calibers.
They are cartridges.

I have posted this before and it’s on another thread here also but in keeping with color phase blacks, here it is again. My goal while bear hunting was a color phase black bear. Just one. I missed a very light blonde in the Bob Marshal Wilderness years earlier so was glad to get a chance at this animal. This looks sort of milk chocolate in the dark but it was actually a lighter “rust” or maybe “strawberry blond” in the light. Very nice hide. Right at 6’. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/cJ2ZG2nQ/83-A6-FDB4-8933-418-F-90-A8-B0-C0-C64-EED36.jpg)
