Around here it kicks off a few things - Garden planting weekend - first r.v. mania weekend of the year, - final snowfal of the spring - Rodeo season gets into its rythem - Toronto Maple Leafs season ends...Black bear season gears up. Elk and other ungulates begin calving and the Grizzlies move in for a taste.. There is new phenomena, farmers and ranchers are seeding crops during this drought with 800.00 tractor fuel ups, fertilizer that is priced like gold.. I know, I am one of the those gambling on the children's inheritance a little. . Stumbing along as one of the" Great unwashed" God Bless All- God Bless the Queen.

Yes. It is the real opening of our campground for the year; though we have been open for a month. The May invitational match at the Bull River Shooters Club is generally the third match of the year but the real beginning of the season. How long do you figure before it will be changed from Victoria Day to something more inclusive like " Over the Rainbow Day"? GD

Queen Victoria has been dead for 120 years or so and we still celebrate her birthday.

Yes indeed. When I was in the military, we were told that Queen Victoria's birthday was decided on after she died. The Cdn government wanted to recognize her many years on the throne and service to England. It was originally just a military thing. An excuse, I suppose, to have a parade. It became more than that, In the early 1950s, it became an official holiday. I don't think we should crab too loud. We never got anything from the Royals except taxation and a bill for our share of the cost to keep them in crowned jewels. We do need a May holiday. Even better, two holidays a month, plus the ones we have now. Queen Vikkie's birfday will have to do until some future federal government figures out something Canadian and national, but not a railway.

Hey, we're Canadians, any reason for a party. And further east you go, the better the parties.

I got some work done at the trailer. I planted tomatoes and marigolds, as well as some window boxes. Will also have another robin nesting on the deck.

Tied a few flies, cleaned my gopher gun and put the finishing touches to an article I have due. May 2-4 weekend is the one weekend I don't go any where. Too many idiots out there. Jeff

Hey, we're Canadians, any reason for a party. And further east you go, the better the parties. yeah, with all the time I've spent in Canada in my life time, one things stands out... it doesn't take much for the Canucks to break out the beer and have a party.... doesn't really matter what the party is supposingly for.. and them Canucks know how to brew good beer..... and Happy Queen Vicky Weekend up in the Great White North....
