A quick question for you guys. I am heading to Wyoming and Utah this moth. I would like to fish and camp in a national forest for two weeks. It seems like I don't need a state license to shoot jack rabbits or coyotes on federal lands, and the season is open all year. My question is have most pups been raised at this time, I really don't want to shoot a coyote that has pups in a den. Thanks for the help.

It is still pretty early.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I have only shot one coyote this spring and it was a male, I know they are denned up in April but would not worry about it with June around the corner next week. As for Jack Rabbits..........good luck, they are few and far between right now and at the low end of the cycle. I have been prairie dog shooting twice this year, once in Utah and yesterday in Wyoming and never saw one Jack Rabbit. saw one cotton tail yesterday though. With the ongoing drought numbers of several species of varmints is way down from previous years

Pups will still be quite small any this time, and in case you didnt already know the female tends to the pups while the male hunts for them all, so shooting a lone coyote foraging around dooms the pups as well.
