One of the news reports says that the tactical team was there and waiting for about 1/2 hour before they were given the ok to go in.

You are the one who described him as one who gets a rush from killing people. I have never met anyone with the balls to kill humans for a thrill or for the chase. But I have seen the difference in the hunting fields. There are those who get a huge adrenaline rush from a kill. Animal or human, it is the same pathology. I just read that the Border Patrol tactical team that finally took him out was on the scene 20 to 30 minutes earlier than what's been reported. The Uvalde police prevented them from going in.

Are you two sure that a Border Patrol Tactical Team responded to this incident? Or are you guessing? It was SOME members of BORTAC who responded. I think the team that broached the classroom and killed the nutjob was assembled on site. 3 BORTAC team members, 1 Zavala County Deputy Sheriff, and 2 Uvalde PD officers. It wasn't the whole BORTAC team. Kinda impromptu of who had some tactical training.
