Mike, the dealer is solid. Known him for 35 years now.
The thing is, lots of people buy AR's for hogs and coyotes and such there. Lots of younger Hispanics do too, and not only that, but the uptick in illegals and bailouts and crime in general, lots of folks have been buying AR's for protection.
He said he passed the smell test. The place he bought it is way more of a hunting store than a gun store. The gun dept is just a small part of that business. Big part of Uvalde business income is the hunters that come there. It is the best store for many miles for that. I wouldn’t throw a dealer under the bus either. That’s exactly what the left wants. Assuming the kid didn’t walk in acting nuts and he obviously passed the background check how much more can a store do? The kid probably came in sober and acting mostly normal or at minimum non dangerous. Even if he came in looking like a tranny refusing to sell a gun to a cross dresser would get the store sued for violating the trannies civil rights and probably accused of “racism” to boot.

I wouldn’t throw a dealer under the bus either. That’s exactly what the left wants. Bingo! I'm kinda surprised to hear what I did on here. The slippery slope started when firearms manufacturers were allowed to be sued because someone way beyond their control used their product to commit a crime.  What's the next step? Kill the car dealer for selling a sober guy a car that he kills people with, on New Years Eve 3 years down the road because he drank too much? Sue GM because a nutjob drove a Chevy through a Christmas parade of innocent people? ONE person is responsible for the evil they do. The criminal.

ATF crawled up his ass for over 4 hours. Interviewed everyone involved, perused all transactions and paperwork. They said he did everything right and cleared him of any infraction whatsoever. Thank God! I’d hate to see a good, upstanding man take the fall for this. If there’s a breakdown in the system it damn sure ain’t his fault. Let him know that we’re in his corner! 👍

The town knows and respects him, and has for decades. Never been anything but an upstanding citizen. He sure doesn't need the money from a couple of rifle sales.
The liberals doxed him though, after this, and he had death treats from all over the world. Some credible enough that his ins. co. paid a private security team to keep them safe at a remote undisclosed location, since it wasn't only him the death threats were about, it was his kids and grandkids they threatened to kill.
These are liberals threatening that chit. Not the locals. Damn, thanks for the correction, prob’ly many of the locals across the board have been patronizing that business for decades.

Gotta wonder what the dealer’s gut was telling him when he sold all that hardware to that creepy kid. I presume the dealer was a local and would be somewhat equipped to judge the character of other locals.
I wonder if he had any prior knowledge at all of the shooter. All he seen was benjamins from a large sale or sales. No matter if he had a feeling or not... Legal sale. Maybe he used his tax return.... Or stimulus checks. He was 17. Roger also suggested a first credit card in another thread. They already know how he paid. He used a debit card, and had the money in his account. FWIW, he bought the firearms and other stuff legally, and of course passed the NICS background check. The ATF was at the FFL dealer for over 4 hours perusing everything related to the purchases and declared the dealer had followed the letter of the law in everything.
