I won't name any names but man there sure have been some doozies by some companies that should know better!

Who's the worst offender?

When Redfield was in Denver they offered a "peep and crosshair" reticle back in the 1960s, a crosshair with a circle at the center.

Almost every reticle I have seen in a movie about snipers would be a contender for the dumbest. But I guess you are asking about real ones.

There are a few reticles from some big names that would fall in the movie sniper category.

Leupold's wide duplex isn't a favorite, and I recently fooled with one in a VX-3i HD that may as well have been a plain cross hair since the thick parts were so far apart.

I’m not too hip on reticles but I ended up with two SWFA’s with the Mil-quad reticle and can’t stand em. The floating dot is too fine for me.

I can hang with some of the Christmas tree stuff, but some of it gets WAY too busy!

Schmidt & Bender offered a similar design in the first 2.5-10x40 Summist, which was equally useless. I see from their website they still offer the Summit--but only "on request." And they don't list the reticles available....

I ordered a 3-9x40 VXII that came with a Wide Duplex. I called them on it and apparently it was MY fault!

Dented that fugging thing shifting into R in my '74 F150. Took a loss on it too. Good riddance!

I prefer the wide duplex by Leupold over all other reticles which they offer. I really like Burris Fullfield 2 Ballistic Plex, my favorite act.

Yeah, I had a old Redfield Master series 4x with the CH/Peep reticle. It was definitely a oddball reticle!

The vast majority of any deer/bear/ elk & whatever I may shoot at is under 150 yards. For the longest time a duplex is my choice. Some applications call for a thicker X, others fine.

Even when I go out west prairie dogging, a simple duplex is what I like. I have a few with other reticles, so I’ve tried a few. I just use some ‘Kentucky windage’ when I adjust for wind & range. I don’t knock some of the busy reticles, have their place. I’m talking under hunting conditions, reasonable range for the round.
