Very few people are difficult to "ambush". Including escaped convicts that don't travel more than a 1/2 mile from where they escaped for 3 weeks then rob a house in the same area and days later break into the one next door when you have a 300+ man search party looking for him. Kinda reminds me of that guy that has hunted all his life and never managed to kill a deer except you got 300 of those guys all together on one team. They probably all grew up in Texas doing canned hunts and just never figured out how to really hunt. Once the outlaw fled the area some guy 200 miles away caught him and tagged him day one. That guy probably killed wild deer before too. Ya gotta get up early, get outta that cruiser, look around and know how to read sign. Gotta kick some brush, look in a few draws, watch and observe. You have to go into that school, scary gun fire or not. Can't live your whole life being a pussy little twat.

Normal citizens, living their daily life, are terribly susceptible to extreme violence. Armed or not! Guns change little in a true ambush scenario. Hell, guns don't mean so much in a military scenario. It's mindset, awareness, tactics. (For soldiers, theses factors allow weapons to usefully come into play) That old man and the kids pulled up to their cabin after a drive. He was focused on getting a chance to piss. The kids were focused on....who knows what? Most violent crime is committed by a pissed off person, a scared person, or one impaired by drugs/alcohol/mental illness. This guy was a stone cold murderer. Killing people was easier for him than changing a tire.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Lots of little 10 acre ranchettes in Leon county. Weekend retreats. Lots of wooded areas. Easy to hid in then steal what you need from vacant cabins. Hasbeen

Or are you just trolling? 35 years in law enforcement but hell yes I'm trolling. You see Birdie it's like this. For years these LEO's have formed unions and associations to rally for their right to do nothing and still get a check. At one time you had to have skills and be physically fit to be a LEO, anymore any lard azz that can squeeze behind the wheel of a cruiser is on. Can't be depriving a a man the job just cause of his obesity. Their failures are rewarded with benefits, PTSD cases run rampant. Instead of screening out the incompetent they've redefined the job description. So we're stuck with a bunch of worthless smucks that capable men don't care to work with. Seems the problem is rather intense there in Teaxas. Criminals rule the roost while the Texas men in blue run hide.
