I tested the .358" 220gr JFN bullets from my 358 Win today. Average velocity as measured 3ft from the box filled with wet newspapers was 2473fps. The bullets penetrated between 10" and 11" into the box. Weight retention is roughly 50%. What remained of the lead cores separated from the jackets when I pulled them from the newspaper or when I blew away the newspaper with compressed air.

Overall I believe these bullets will result in quick kills on deer sized animals. The holes and cavitation of the newspapers are quite impressive.

Thanks, Dinny

35 Remington tests are planned for next weekend. I should get between 2000 and 2100fps.

When do you think you'll have these ready for sale?

They say everything happens for a reason.
For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

I'm only doing the R&D but I believe they could be readily available later this month.

Is there a way to get on a list for these bullets?

If there is, please place me on that list.

After some consultation with the bullet maker I have decided to load the 357 Maximum with 24gr of A1680 and test them amd the 35 Rem loaded with the 220gr JFP this Sunday.

Thanks, Dinny

Just talked with the maker again. He is able to bond the 358 bullets but it results in more lead exposed. That may be mitigated by using longer jackets. More to follow as we work out the details. I'll have some of the bonded bullets to test next week.

Thanks, Dinny

ARE YOU going to be selling them on the ''FIRE''? And how are you going to be selling them, 50 or 100 to the box?
How Much for the 348, & the 35 Cal. Bullets? Who is making these bullets for you?

Today I tested the .358" 220gr JFP in both the 357 Maximum and 35 Rem. Both guns have a 1:16" twist rate.

5 shots of the 35 Rem averaged 2247fps less than 2ft from the bullet box.

5 shots of the 357 Maximum averaged 1693fps less than 2ft from the bullet box.

The good news: This bullet appears to perform ideally in the 35 Rem. Expansion is .690" - .730" and the bullets penetrated 11" of densly packed wet newspaper. Bullet pictures below.

The not so good news: All the bullets shot into 17" of wet newspaper from the 357 Max penetrated all the way through and were lost. The holes in the newspaper were straight and show little if any expansion. This bullet needs more than 1700fps for adequate expansion. More tests are needed to see if the bonded version will expand at a lower velocity.
